The updated day by day guide to the events in Berlin for April 2017.

Spring is in the air and in Berlin there are plenty of events going on. So put your winter coat away and enjoy the weather with the following events.

EXHIBITIONS, FAIRS AND FESTIVAL

Until 17th April you can celebrate Spring with Frühlingsfest where you will find up to 60 different attractions at Kurt-Schumacher-Damm.

From 6th to 12th April 2017 don’t miss True Italian Pizza Week Berlin, organised by True Italian and Berlino Magazine. In all of the pizzerias taking part it will be possible to enjoy authentic Italian pizza (choosing between two kinds – vegetarian always included) matching it with a beer or a soft drink for the exclusive price of 10€.
Do you love classical music? From 7th to 16th April 2017 the Festtage 2017 will take place at Schiller Theater and at Philarmonie. The great personalities of Berlin’s lyrical music and the “Staatskapelle Berlin” symphony will perform in 5 plays and 4 concerts. The conductor Daniel Barenboim will direct three of the four concerts and the Parsifal by Wagner.

For gardening lovers, on 13th April the IGA Berlin 2017 – International Garden Festival begins and their slogan will be “an ocean of colours”. Over 186 days (the event will end on 15th October 2017) there will be 5000 events focused on contemporary gardening design, landscape architecture and green urban space in an area of 104 acres.

Where will you be on Easter? There is no better weekend to relax on the Spree shores! On 15th and 16th april 2017 the Badeschiff Arena gives us a sneak peek of the 2017 season which we talked about here.

Movie lovers who never pass up the chance to go to the cinema are in luck because from the 19th to the 26th April Achtung Berlin, the third biggest festival of Berlin will take place. Every movie displayed is either completely or partly shot in Berlin.

From 25th to 29th April 2017 one of the biggest aeronautics fairs in the world will head to Berlin. With over 200 aircrafts, ILA Berlin presents the greatest number of airplanes of any other fair and the aircrafts are open to the public. The fair will take place in  Schönefeld at Messe-Allee 1 12529.

From 27th April to 1st May  at Babylon there will be Visionär: a film festival born to publicize first or second films that have traveled international festivals and had big media acceptance but have not yet been released in Berlin. The festival stands out for “visionary”, aesthetically challenging, sharp narrative and original thematics films. More info here.

Art weekend from 28th to 30th April 2017 with the Berlin Gallery Weekend. Three days of vernissage and exhibitions in the Berlin galleries open to visitors and possible investors.

THE DAY BY DAY GUIDE

Sat 1st April

During the Frühlingsfest at the Berlin Angelservice association stand it will be possible to try their grilled meat specialities and Ed, the smoking clerk, will be there all the time to explain the techniques used in this procedure. You can also buy their famous smoked fish.

From 12 to 22 for all the fashion addicts at Halle am Berghain there will be the BAFW Designer Market (organised by Berlin Alternative Fashion Week) where 25 new talents will present their own fashion creations. Morover, you can enjoy food, drinks and music. So don’t miss this opportunity to support new fashion talents, the entrance is free.

Sun 2nd

Want to celebrate Spring? Take part in the Berlin half marathon, you will have the chance to make a tour of the city’s main landmarks. Every year up to 30.000 people of every nationality imaginable take part in the marathon. It will begin in Karl-Marx-Allee at 10.05.

Food lovers? A market, and more than 20 startups are waiting for you with their innovative products. Every kind of smoothies, homemade beer kits, spices and varieties of whiskey. You can find these and many others at Startup Food Market where 20 new startups from the culinary industry will display their products. From 12 to 18 at Unicorn, Brunnenstr. 64, 13355 Berlin.

From 23.00 you can enjoy the best of 90s music at YAAM Berlin.

Tue 4th

At 20 at Comedyclub Kookaburra don’t miss the cabaret show in English by Karsten Kaie. The title is “How to become a berliner in one hour“. An ironic survival guide for the people who live in Berlin.

Wed 5th

AT BERLINO SCHULE FROM 19 TO 21 FILMMAKING COURSE WITH STEFANO CASERTANO.  

From 18 at Ristorante Café Aroma Photogalerie the opening of the exhibition Reportage#5 by Martina Trabucco and in partnership with Berlino Magazine.

From 18 Markthalle Neun organizes foodXchange waiting for Easter. Whoever is interested can cook or bake something and exchange it with others. Not only food, but also old cooking books and other tools.

Thu 6th

From 22 karaoke at Badehaus Berlin. Pop, rock, soul, punk, you make the show. Whoever performs will get a free drink!

Suicide Circus Berlin will host Charlton, one of the main techno music producers of the moment. He has been producing techno music since 2000 and knows exactly how to throw a cool techno party.

Fri 7th

At 20 at Columbiahalle Paul Kalkbrenner concert, an internationaly renowned techno music artist.

At 20 at Berliner Philharmonie Spring concert by Zentralkapelle.

Sat 8th

From 14 Urban Spree opens its Biergarten with a series of open air concerts, street food and its artisan beer.

At 17 at Staatsoper Unter den Linden the theatrical play “Parsifal” by Wagner. With director Daniel Barenboim.

At 20 at Mine Centrum Berlin Innative Land presents Deep Waves, a performance which includes science, art, tecnology and design. The main theme is the fusion between ancient rituals and modern technologies.

From 20 at YAAM Berlin Spring concert by Il Civetto, a famous group amongst the techno clubs in Berlin. The main feature of this group are their live shows which are actually parties. This will be their last performance of 2017 in Berlin.

Sun 9th

At 16 at Deutsche Oper Berlin Wagner’s drama “Twilight of the Godsi” directed by Donald Runnicles.

From 23.30 at Cassiopeia club reggae all night long.

Mon 10th 

At 20 Gianna Nannini concert at Admiralspalast, one of the 7 stops in Germany during her “HitStory European Tour 2017”.

Tue 11th

From 20 at English Theater Berlin famous writers from Berlin who write in different languages will hold a talk entitled  “What languages does Berlin write in?”.

Wed 12th

 From 00 to 12am Tresor Berlin presents Tresor New Faces.

At 20 at Monarch Berlin Dobré quartet will perform with indie/folk music. Tickets here.

Thu 13th

At Watergate with H.O.S.H.StimmingKarmonLehar,UndercattMusumeci night.

From 19 at Berlin Beer Academy there will be a special guest at Brewhouse Lemke. Founded in 1999 and internationally known. The academy has 3 locations in Berlin and 8 different types of beer, 3 kinds will be presented during the evening.

From 17 Daniel Barenboim directs Parsifal at Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

At 16 at Deutsche Oper Berlin the orchestra conductor Donald Runnicles directs “Twilight of the Gods” by Wagner.

Tue 18th

At 20 at Caffè Tasso Jazz concert of Mistral Quartett. Free entry.

Learning a language is hard but exercise makes the master. At 22 join the Polyglot Club Berlin Meeting at Que Pasa if you are looking for a mother tongue to exercise with in the language you want to learn. Or if you just simply want to make new friends.

Wed 19th

From 19 to 20.30 at Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Berlino there will be a meeting with the writer Paolo Rumiz.

At Tresor, New Faces night with Jasmine Azarian and Talla.

Thu 20th

From 22 at United Campus, the student party at Matrix Club Berlin.

Fri 21st

At Hoppetosse with the event Sailorgroove. During the night, performances by Terence Terry, Ivan Iacobucci, Marcos Baiano, Stroop and Adrian Gabriel.
